The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is partnering with the Florida Department of Transportation and law enforcement partners to educate Floridians on the changes to distracted driving law with the Put It Down: Focus on Driving campaign. The Wireless Communications While Driving Law, section 316.305, Florida Statutes, took effect on July 1, 2019. This new law requires drivers to put their phones down and focus on driving.

There are several ways to pay taxes, online and in person. You can pay online by clicking here. You can pay in person at our Lake City and Fort White offices. In Lake City we have a drop box for payments and you may also use the drive-thru to pay taxes.

The property owner must complete a 'Notice and Application for Alternative Payment of Property Taxes' in order to participate in the Plan. The property owner must complete all items on the Application (property identification number and legal description of property), as it appears on the Current Tax Notice. The property owner must sign and date application and return (in person or via mail) to the Columbia County Tax Collector's Officeor fill it out online here.
Our busiest days of the week are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There is also an increase in wait times around lunch time.
